Oil Properties This is a list of some of the oils we use in our products and the properties they are know for.
Coconut Oil: A very good carrier oil for dry, itchy, sensitive skin and will not clog pores. Emu Oil: is anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, encourages healing, stimulates skin, hair and nail growth, acts as a natural SPF, is a natural emollient and moisturizer, penetrates multiple layers of skin, is non-comedogenic, hypoallergenic, prevents and diminishes scarring/stretch marks, and more. A great oil to use for burns, scars, skin disorders and allergies. Evening Primrose Oil: Contains 9% gamma-linolenic acid (an essential fatty acid), making it an exceptionally nourishing oil. Essential fatty acids inhibit bacterial growth and allow our systems to defend against infection and inflammation. This oil is best to use with dry skin. Shea Butter: African healers have used shea butter for over thousands of years as the ideal treatment for dry or aging skin. Its high content of non-saponifiable fatty acids gives it the ability to moisturize and retain the elasticity of the skin. Shea butter also protects the skin against the damaging effects of the sun while repairing cellular degeneration. Sweet Almond Oil: This oil is a great nutrient for softening and conditioning skin. It?s especially suitable for eczema, itchy, dry and inflamed skin. It contains glucosides, vitamins and minerals. Apricot Kernel Oil: light but rich oil. It?s especially good for mature, sensitive skin, and skin that is inflamed or dry. Avocado Oil: This highly therapeutic oil is rich in vitamins A, B1, B2 Panthothenic acid, VitaminD, E, protein, lecithin and fatty acids. It?s a very good nutrient for dry skin and eczema. It is said to have healing and regenerating qualities. Castor Oil: This oil is rich in fatty acids and very soothing/lubricating to the skin. It acts as a humectant, attracting moisture to the skin. Grapeseed Oil: Is rich in vitamins, minerals and linoleic acid. A good light, penetrating oil popular for massage oils. Jojoba: Jojoba is not an oil but a liquid wax which offers the traits of both to make it a great ingredient finished product. It is highly penetrating and closely resembles our sebum. It can control excess sebum production, thereby helping with oily skin and acne. Olive Oil: It attracts external moisture to the skin and still allows normal functions of the skin to take place. Rice Bran Oil: It has some antioxidizing properties as well as some sunscreen properties. It is good for mature, delicate or sensitive skin. Vitamin E: When used topically, Vit E may decrease some of the harmful effects of solar radiation on the skin. It can help heal acne, promote wound healing and prevent scarring from eczema or psoriasis. Cocoa Butter: It has great softening properties. Mango Butter: It has good emolliency and lens a protective effect against the sun. It is said to prevent drying of the skin and formation of wrinkles. It reduces degeneration of skin cells and restores flexibility. |
